These create special educational and visual stimulation, and also act as a buffer zone between the adjacent shipyards to meet Navy security requirements. The project also includes the renovation, reconfiguration and conversion of an 1889 historic building into a Naval Museum. Finally, the project included the relocation of the 60 ton sail from the USS Parche (the most decorated warship in US Naval history). This project utilized several public funding sources with certified payroll and reporting. The project site was extremely challenging. The entire project sits on roughly 3 acres of land that is bordered by Puget Sound Naval Shipyard to the west and the Washington State Ferries to the east and the waterfront on the north. This required constant communication and planning that was magnified with the elevated security threat levels.
