Description
The substantial renovation and conversion of a 5-story building.
This conversion created 56 units of affordable housing, office and community space. Some of the unique aspects of the project involved the three very different types of construction used to create the separate sections of this building.
One section was built pre 1900 and involved solid laminated framing or balloon framing which is solid 2 x 6 walls and floors stacked together continuously.
The next section was concrete construction and last section was modern stick framing. The structural work included raising the building with crib stacking and hydraulic jacks in order to replace the pier pad foundations with modern footings and stem walls.
